On 2 November 2015, Nouwens gathered every member of staff to help celebrate Luci Nouwens’ 45 year contribution to the Nouwens brand. Not only did they celebrate Luci’s valuable contribution and dedication to the company, but to the carpet production industry itself.

Over the years, Luci has been at the forefront of the operation, driving innovation, elegance and creativity. She began her time with the company in 1970, working closely with her father and she retired briefly in 2010, but it was her passion for Nouwens and the industry that brought her back, to further challenge and inspire local carpet makers.

To add to the specialness of the occasion, Nouwens celebrated the grand opening of its brand new showroom in Harrismith. Guests were invited to view the first loom ever commissioned at Nouwens, along with the first carpet woven. Proudly displayed in a glass front showcase, this piece of memorabilia has been restored to its full glory, for future generations to marvel at. As Luci has an abundance of bird life at Image County in Clarens, where she lives, her team presented her with a stunning set of Swarovski binoculars to get a closer look at them. Everyone at Nouwens wished Luci everything of the best for many years to come.
